Ingest from via USB

When you plug USB devices directly into the ports on your node, you can use ‘Ingest’ to browse, download, and copy off of them.

<aside> ℹ️ INFO

If your creative.space server is physically accessible, it is much better to ingest directly into the server instead of plugging the drive into a workstation and copying over the network. This method should be faster and free up network bandwidth connected to the server.

Step by Step

  1. Plug in an external USB drive or camera card reader and card into the creative.space server.
  2. Go to the Ingest interface of the web app and select a device displayed in the USB Devices list.
  3. The 'Ingest' feature is always a pull function, not a push function. It involves copying from (pulling) rather than copying to (pushing).
  4. An external USB drive will be displayed the same way as if the file(s)/folder(s) were on a Space. The only difference in functionality is that you cannot copy files to the external USB drive.
